This is a two-day advanced level seminar intended for clinicians who work with general acute, orthopedic, or sports patients. Course participants should have taken the Basic Course, and should have a basic understanding of anatomy, terminology, biomechanics, and the biomechanical assessment of the lower extremity. The Advanced Course will discuss advanced joint biomechanics, sport biomechanics, footwear technology and selection, video gait analysis, joint mobilization, foot orthotic problem solving, closed kinetic chain assessment, and closed kinetic chain rehabilitation. The course will focus upon the use of biomechanics in treatment approaches and clinical problem solving.
We asked for your feedback on our basic course. We received high marks for our professional presentations, but you've also asked for more. You want an Advanced course in the same tradition of excellence. You want advanced concepts. You want advanced techniques. Most of all, you want to "put it all together" to tackle your clinical problems.
Our research revealed that the best way to advance to the next level was to create specific courses for different patient populations. The present course is designed to meet the needs of the clinician who deals with general acute, orthopedic, and/or sports patients. An additional course directed toward neurologically involved patients is under consideration.
Recent developments in technology have opened new horizons. Slow motion video analysis of human movement. Space-age materials for orthotics. Advances in footwear design and construction. We'll present how this information applies to you, and most important, how it applies to treating your patient. At the same time, we realize that your most important/valuable tools are your hands and your head. With this in mind, we've included "hands-on" sessions to practice new techniques and reinforce concepts.
Our speakers, Suzie and Keith have been teaching our Basic course for years, and are recognized nationally as leaders in the field of lower extremity biomechanics. They are also active clinicians who share the joys and frustrations of patient care. and are ready to share their clinical insights with you.
